Greece: Overview of legal framework
Overview of promotion system
In Greece, electricity from renewable sources is promoted through price regulation in terms of a guaranteed feed-in tariff, whose amount depends on the energy source. Furthermore, roof-mounted PV systems are eligible for a support scheme. This scheme incentivises electricity generation by small PV systems (capacities of up to 10 kW) through a feed-in tariff per kWh. Apart from that, the purchase of renewable energy systems is promoted through an investment grant.
more about promotionOverview of access to the grid
Systems generating electricity from renewable energy sources are contractually entitled to preferential connection to the grid. The grid operator is obliged to enter into this contract. Furthermore, the plant operator is entitled to the purchase of renewable-energy-sourced electricity by the grid operator. The terms of the grid connection contract may oblige the grid operator to expand his grid, if the grid expansion is necessary to satisfy his obligation to connect.
