Overview of promotion system

Malta promotes the construction of solar radiation and wind energy systems for domestic use through a subsidy scheme. Furthermore, electricity generated by domestic photovoltaic systems is subject to price regulation in terms of a guaranteed feed-in tariff.

Overview of access to the grid

Operators of renewable energy systems are entitled against the grid operator to priority connection to the grid and priority transmission of electricity from renewable sources. The contractual agreements concluded may give rise to a claim for the extension of the grid if this extension is required to connect a system to the grid.
