Overview of promotion system

  • PRESR (Promotion of Electricity produced from Renewable Energy Sources)
  • GN 136 (A Once-Only Grant on the Purchase of Wind Energy Systems)
  • GN 81 (A Grant on the Purchase of Systems for Renewable Sources of Energy)
Promotion system
  • Subsidies. Investments in domestic systems generating electricity from wind and solar radiation energy are eligible for subsidies.
  • Price regulation. Electricity from solar radiation energy generated by domestic solar systems is subject to a price regulation scheme in terms of a guaranteed feed-in tariff (Net-Metering Tariff).
Technologies

Only wind and solar radiation energy are eligible.

Area of application

The promotion system is applicable to the territory of Malta only.

Funding

The costs arising from the subsidies are borne by the Maltese state. The costs arising from the price regulation scheme are borne by the Maltese grid operator, Enemalta Corporation.
