Overview of promotion system

The Kingdom of Sweden promotes renewable energy through various instruments, the most important of them being the quota system, which is based on the trade of certificates. Furthermore, fiscal regulation mechanisms and a grant scheme have been established.

Overview of access to the grid

In the Kingdom of Sweden, access of electricity generated from renewable energy sources to the grid is subject to the general provisions laid down in the Electricity Act. According to these statutory provisions, the grid operator shall hold a license, which obliges him to connect power generation plants to the grid, transmit the electricity and expand the grid. Renewable energy is not given priority.
